Anders Hūgo is a Swedish contemporary visual artist and photographer, who works in the fields of Advertising and Fashion, specializing in Portraiture and Entertainment. He is acclaimed for his exquisitely unique and distinct sensibility to capture emotion through meticulous immersion into his subjects, and as such he permeates the human condition, championing character, and human nature.
At an early age, Hūgo began demonstrating extraordinary artistic talent, painting in a realistic manner throughout his childhood. Subsequently introduced to photography during a family trip to Monaco; peering through his grandfather’s camera along the coastline, in lieu of painting supplies, proved burgeoning. Aptly fusing his painting skills seamlessly into this work before long, he soon began further traversing mediums such as drawing, sculpting, film, and eventual digital technology. He still has that very first photograph he ever took: a picture of the Mediterranean Sea.
Hūgo's pursuits in the visual arts would later lead him to the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena where he began receiving numerous professional assignments while still attending. He gained momentum in 2004 when he was chosen to photograph Swedish actor Peter Stormare at the legendary Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles for the cover of the Magazine MAN. His rapidly growing elite list of subjects and clients since, encompass an impressive array of major editorial, advertising, and fashion clients, studios, celebrities, musicians and athletes alike.
Whether on assignment or passionately adding to his fine art catalogue, Hūgo continues to evolve, innovate, and reinvent, as he delves into the intricacies of humanity. He currently spends most of his time between Los Angeles, New York, and Stockholm.
